Update by Dennis Morgan: Administrator

Wow, summer is over and fall is just around the corner……
During the warm weather we all, residents, staff, Mr. Kitover and family members alike have enjoyed the cook-outs, and want to shout a big THANK YOU to the kitchen staff.

Fond good-byes and best wishes to our favorite students, Michael, Danny, Adam, Sophie, and Liam as they, some for the first time and others with a little more experience reach out and enter the college life.

A HIGH FIVE to Omar and the maintenance team for the beautiful back nurses' station. Our wish list includes one for the front, too. They are prepping the dining room to make changes with wallpaper, wainscoting and window treatments.

Also new is the new phone system, each department has their own extension and voice mail capabilities to ensure greater communication.

Be sure to call Mary Shea for Grandparents Day, making this a special day for all. The kitchen and activities department are working together on this event. We hope many of you will be able to join us.

We will be having a FALL FAIR, Saturday, October 25th. Wanted are crafters, vendors and interested parties for the white elephant table. Please call Mary at extension 24 or Susan at extension 13 for details to ensure booth space.

There are changes in some of the Medicaid reimbursements, including eligibility and bed hold status. This is one way Governor Romney can cut the Mass Health budget. Currently we are waiting for a more final explanation passed down from the Romney Administration to Massachusetts Extended Care Foundation, as soon as we hear we will pass this on to you since this affects all of us.

Kindly R.S.V.P. to Mary Shea, A.D. by Friday, September 5th.

The Staff and Residents of The Carlyle House would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Linda Sullivan, DON and her family during their time of bereavement. Linda's mother and resident at The Carlyle House, Dorothy Starner died on Sunday, August 24, 2003. Dorothy had been a part of The Carlyle House family since July 2000. Dorothy touched the hearts of staff with her infectious laugh and appreciation of a good joke. We are thankful to Linda for allowing her mother to be a part of our lives. Dot Starner from Cambridge will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

bookBook Review
by Ruth Doody

Cassie was screaming while Melissa and Jessica were trying to calm her down. Cassie was having nightmares; she was seeing monsters chasing her in a tunnel. Cassie has not been able to speak since watching her nanny die. Jessica was trying to help Cassie cope with the trauma she witnessed.

Michael Travis moved into the cottage on Jessica's property, as per the order of Jessica's father, the President of the United States. Michael was able to calm Jessica when she was screaming.

There was a conspiracy in the government and the CIA was looking for Michael after he escaped from the cottage with Melissa, Jessica, and Cassie. Michael even eluded The Secret Service. Michael was involved in the international underworld. Now he was bringing the President's daughter into this drama.

This book called Final Target by Iris Johansen is a page turner. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I. It's worth reading.
