Restorative Nursing Program

Rehabilitation Department

Our Rehabilitation Department provides rehabilitation services seven days a week as needed. Carlyle House also promotes education and training to our in-house nursing staff. Programs include:

  • Individual treatment and group treatment as indicated
  • Fall prevention, and wheelchair seating
  • Restorative positioning
  • Restorative feeding
  • Restraint reduction
  • Resident kitchen for home management training
  • Hydroculator, therapeutic stairs, bicycles, parallel bars, and general adaptive equipment
  • Large adapted bathroom for ADL and toilet training

Physical Therapy Department

Staffed with registered physical therapists and physical therapy assistants. Therapy focuses on gait training, balance, strengthening, positioning, and mobility skills. All treatment plans are individualized with a team approach between therapists, nursing staff and physicians.

Occupational Therapy Department

Staffed with registered occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants. Therapy focuses on restorative programs, feeding skills, Activities of Daily Living, splinting/positioning, strengthening, restraint reduction, cognitive restraining, home management training and community re-entry skills.

Speech Therapy Department

Services are provided by registered speech pathologists who provide treatment in the areas of dysphasia, language communication skills, cognitive restraining, and restorative maintenance programs.

Restorative Nursing Program

The purpose of the Restorative Nursing Program is to improve and maintain the functional skills and physical condition of our patients. Although Long Term Care facilities are not required to offer Restorative Nursing Program, Carlyle House does provide Restorative Nursing Programs in the following areas:

Ambulation
Grooming
Wheelchair Mobility
Feeding Transfers Bowel/Bladder Retraining
Bathing Toileting Range of Motion
Dressing Bed Mobility Adaptive/Assistive Devices
Positioning Oral Hygiene Personal/Hygiene Care
Memory Communication Strengthening
